A luxury trek is similar to a lodge trek except in that you have the choice of spending the nights in relatively luxurious hotels compared to lodges. These hotels have well appointed rooms with attached bathrooms, hot and cold running showers and hygienically prepared gastronomic delights. Cho-Oyu operates one such hotel, Hotel Sherpaland, at Namche Bazaar, a bustling little mountain town that represents the heart of the Khumbu region.

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek

Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,585 m), also known as the “Five Treasures of Snow”, lies in east Nepal and is the third highest peak in the world. It forms a natural border between Nepal and India. The Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek gives us an experience of the remote nature of this region, views of majestic snow clad mountains, diverse flora and fauna and the rich local culture of the people inhabiting the lower parts of this area. This trek is a non-technical one and is suitable for even the average trekker. If you are moderately fit and have a sense of adventure then you qualify.

Makalu Basecamp Trek

Makalu-Barun National Park in eastern Nepal virgin territory that is almost uninhabited. This remote terrain is situated east of the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park between the high and desolate Tibetan plateau and the deep gorge carved by the Arun River that lies in the subtropical belt. 

An outstanding trek, it can be done either from Tumlingtar or Hile. The itinerary that Cho-Oyu has chalked out starts and ends at Tumlingtar. The trek takes us up the Arun River to Num, Shadawa, Tashigaon, the last permanent settlement in the valley, among others, before emerging into the upper Barun Valley for spectacular close up views of the south face of Mt. Makalu (8,463 m), the fifth highest mountain in the world, as well as other Himalayan massifs, including Mt. Chamlang (7,319 m) and Mt. Baruntse (7,129 m). Peak 4, Peak 6, Peak 7 Everest and Lhotse complete the picture.

Manaslu Trek
