This trek is suitable for beginners or for those who have limited time but still want a real Himalayan experience. The trek starts from Naya Pul (New Bridge), an hour’s drive from Pokhara. The trail winds through beautiful rhododendron forest, which inspired the setting for “The Hobbit Triology”.
We will also be passing through the fascinating traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk, home of the valiant Gurkha soldiers. Ghandruk provides us a good opportunity to witness the culture and tradition of rural Nepal. At Ghorepani, the trail meets a major trade route, which is plied by mule trains ferrying goods north toward Tibet. Along the way, there are spectacular views of the snowy peaks of the Annapurna range, capped off by the dramatic and unforgettable and mountain scenery at sunrise from Poon Hill.
